Hi! My name is Reza Houston. I'm an Associate Professor of Finance and Molinaro Fellow at Ball State University. I am also an affiliated faculty member at George Mason's Baroni Center for Government Contracting. You can find my Ball State homepage here.
My research spans several areas, including government contracting, political economy, and mergers and acquisitions. You can also find a list of my publications here. I primarily code in SAS and Stata, but I'm learning Python.
I recently founded the Center for the Analysis of Politics and Enterprise (CAPE) and serve as its President. CAPE is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to the examination of the impact of political activity on private firms. We provide data to researchers and ensure that research on the interplay between politics and finance has a forum.
I currently teach Portfolio Management (FIN 410) and the Principles of Finance (FIN 300) at Ball State. In Portfolio Management, my students manage a portfolio for Ball State's Foundation worth approximately $2,115,000.
I have several other interests, including ancient and medieval history, chess, and traveling. My wife shares my interest in traveling but prefers not to discuss the other stuff at dinner.
